How to use parental controls on Fire TV Stick to restrict access to certain content and apps based on ratings, categories, or passwords

If you have a Fire TV Stick and you want to limit what your kids or other family members can watch or use on it, you can use parental controls to restrict access to certain content and apps based on ratings, categories, or passwords. Here's how to set up and use parental controls on your Fire TV Stick.

1. On your Fire TV Stick remote, press and hold the Home button for a few seconds until a menu appears on the screen. Select Settings from the menu.

2. In the Settings menu, scroll to the right and select Preferences.

3. In the Preferences menu, scroll down and select Parental Controls.

4. You will be asked to create a 5-digit PIN for parental controls. Enter a PIN that you can remember and confirm it. This PIN will be required to access restricted content and apps on your Fire TV Stick.

5. After creating the PIN, you can customize the parental controls settings according to your preferences. You can choose to restrict purchases, app usage, and playback of content based on ratings or categories. You can also block specific apps from being accessed without the PIN.

6. To restrict purchases, turn on the toggle for PIN Protect Purchases. This will require you to enter the PIN whenever you want to buy or rent content or apps from Amazon or other providers on your Fire TV Stick.

7. To restrict app usage, turn on the toggle for PIN Protect App Launches. This will require you to enter the PIN whenever you want to open any app on your Fire TV Stick, except for the ones that you have whitelisted in the next step.

8. To whitelist certain apps that you don't want to restrict with the PIN, select Manage App Exceptions and choose the apps that you want to allow without the PIN. You can also block specific apps from being accessed at all by selecting Block Apps and choosing the apps that you want to block.

9. To restrict playback of content based on ratings or categories, select Viewing Restrictions and choose the level of restriction that you want to apply. You can choose from General Audience (G), Parental Guidance (PG), Mature Audience (MA), or Custom. If you choose Custom, you can select which ratings or categories you want to restrict for movies and TV shows separately. For example, you can restrict movies rated R or higher and TV shows rated TV-14 or higher.

10. To apply the parental controls settings, press the Home button on your remote and enjoy your Fire TV Stick with peace of mind.

Parental controls are a useful feature that can help you control what your kids or other family members can watch or use on your Fire TV Stick. You can easily set up and use parental controls on your Fire TV Stick by following these steps. If you have any questions or feedback, please leave a comment below.
